HISTORICAL & FACTUAL

As a qualified historian, I take real pleasure in writing long-form articles that deliver factual and historical stories in an engaging format.

The more obscure the subject, the more enthusiastic I am to get to work on the research! All of my articles are 100% original and data is derived from the most up-to-date research and journal publications.

I am a fit for any historical period but I specialize in ancient, medieval, renaissance, and classical history as well as classical art.

I continue my work in academia as an Alumni Fellow within the History department at Nottingham Trent University.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ATHENIAN

The Parthenon sits above you, dominating the landscape. Perched atop the Acropolis, the huge stone columns of the temple can be seen for miles, glistening in the midday sun. But that is not your destination. Today you head west and join the crowd heading for the Pnyx, the open-air auditorium that will play host to today’s Ecclesia Assembly.

THE DANSE MACABRE (HISTORY)

Dating back to the Late Middles Ages, The Danse Macabre, also known as the Dance of Death, was an annual procession whereby Death calls upon those from all walks of life to accompany him in a funerary dance to the grave.
The Danse Macabre was a way of disrupting the peace of the cemetery and reminding us that no matter who you are or what you have achieved, we are all bound for the ground.

ANCIENT CULTS (CLASSICAL WISDOM)

The Eleusinian Mysteries have puzzled scholars for nearly two millennia. The mysteries of Demeter and her daughter Persephone were an ancient ritual that was observed yearly between 1600 BCE and 392 CE. It was a festival of magnitude that required over a year’s worth of preparation.
